Most Popular Game Families

Double Double Bonus Poker

This is without a doubt, the most popular video poker game in the country.  It is a volatile ride and often a lot of fun.  Four –of-a-kind Aces with a 2, 3 or, 4 "kicker" pays 2,000.  Four aces without a “kicker” or quad 2s-4s with an ace, 2, 3, or 4 “kicker” pays 800. To compensate for these juicy jackpots, the full house is usually reduced by one.

Double Bonus Poker

The allure of this game is that quad aces pay 800 credits.  It pays 400 for 2s-4s, and 250 on all others.  Because there are no high paying kicker combos like in Double Double, the full house and flush usually pay an extra coin or two.  It's definitely a fun game, the emphasis still on aces, but trickier to learn to play perfectly.

Bonus Poker Deluxe

This is a good game if you are not seeking a ton of volatility, but still want to get excited about quads.  All quads in this game pay 400 credits.  Typically this is funded by a reduction in the payout for a full house and an even-money return on two pair.  This is a good game to play if you are looking for time-on-device.

Bonus Poker

Bonus Poker is another moderately volatile game.  The attraction here, besides time-on-device, is that quad aces pays 400, quad 2’s, 3’s, and 4’s pay 200 and all other quads pay 125.  You don’t really get “walking money”, but you get to play for a while.  Another key attraction of this game is that two pairs returns 10 coins, or twice your wager.

Deuces Wild Bonus Poker

Deuces Wild Bonus is essentially Deuces Wild with a kicker opportunity and 5-of-a-kinds broken out into bigger jackpots. Four 2s with an ace kicker pays a big 2,000 coins. Five aces pays 400, five 3s–5s pays 200, and five 6s-Ks pays 100. The reduction in the payout for a straight is a significant giveback that calls for key adjustments in strategy.  People who love “wild” cards who also love the “rush” of big jackpots are drawn to this entertaining game.

Deuces Wild Poker

This is a very popular game in great part due to the game's high hit frequency.  Almost like slots with a lot of reinforcement along the way and not really any BIG jackpots other than the royal or quad deuces.   The even-money payoff requires that you make 3-of-a-kind, but the presence of four wild cards greatly enhances this prospect, and makes for lots of straights, flushes, and full houses. Four deuces pays a sizable 1,000 credits. A nice jackpot and non-taxable for quarter players.  Paytables are tightened in this game by reducing the payouts for straight flushes, and 4- and 5-of-a-kinds.

Triple Double Bonus Poker

This is an exceptionally high risk, high reward game and one of the most volatile.  Four aces with a 2, 3, or 4 kicker pays 4,000 coins, the same as a royal flush. Four 2s–4s with ace, 2, 3, or 4 pays 2,000, which is the same as aces with a kicker in the popular Double Double Bonus game. You still get 800 for aces and 400 for 2s–4s. The payouts for full house, flush, and straight are good, but you get only 2 coins for 3-of-a-kind instead of 3. You make 3-of-a-kind more than you realize, so this reduction is costly.

Jacks or Better

Jacks or Better is a straightforward game with relatively low volatility, which means you can often play it for longer periods of time than other video poker pay schedules. As the name implies, it pays even money for a pair of jacks or better. All 4-of-a kinds pay 125 coins.  It is a game people play for time-on-device.  It is one of the easier ones to learn how to play and is quite popular in high limit, less popular on the main casino floor. 

Joker Poker

This game is primarily popular on the east coast in Atlantic City, but also in CT, PA and MI. The deck has 53 cards, due to the addition of one joker. The royal (without the joker) on this game often pays 4,700 coins. This is because the extra card in the deck lengthens the odds of hitting it. The 5-of-a-kind pays 1,000. These higher jackpots are compensated for by counting only kings or better as a high pair.

Triple Play Draw Poker

This game breathed fresh life into video poker in 1997 and is still one of the most enduring and successful games in the industry right there along with Wheel of Fortune.  The game allows you to play three hands at once with bets of up to five coins per hand. The first 5 cards are dealt face up. You choose which cards to hold, and those cards are automatically held in all three hands. After hitting the draw button, you get three different draws from three different decks.   There is no change in strategy for the player.  An occasional operator error on this game is tightening the game more than the single hand versions of the same game elsewhere on a floor.  This can lead to lower earnings as players who want to play this game, but are pay table savvy opt for better single hand pay tables.

All-Star Poker

All-Star Poker is essentially a compilation of the “greatest hits” of multi-hand poker.  IGT compressed Triple Play, Five Play, Ten Play, Spin Poker, Super Times Pay Poker, Double Pay Poker, Chase The Royal, Trade-Up Poker and Five Aces.

This game is typically the highest earning poker game on most slot floors and often the highest earning game of all types.  It is perfect for multiple denominations, stair-stepped as described elsewhere on the site and is an exceptional performer in high limit rooms. 

Super Times Pay Poker

Without a doubt, one of the most popular poker games to have been invented in the last decade.  It is a 6 coin per line game where the 6th coin qualifies the player for a random multiplier that ranges from 2x to 10x and occurs roughly every 15 hands.  When the multiplier is awarded, it appears on one of the base hand cards and revolves through various values creating anticipation and excitement.  When it stops on a value, the multiplier image moves to the left of the hand and the hand finishes being dealt.  Even the fastest players slow down to consider what the multiplier might mean to the dealt hand.  An exceptionally high earning game, popular in all denoms and including high limit.

Multi-Strike Poker

Standard single-hand play will never be the same as you climb a ladder to riches playing your favorite draw poker game the Multi-Strike Poker way. Play the first hand of up to four possible separate hands of video poker using the standard pay table. With a winning hand, the heart-pounding excitement continues with a new deal from a fresh deck and double the pay-table value on the second rung. You will love the chance to climb to the summit by winning three hands in a row, because the top pay table lavishes eight times the payout for a chance at 32,000 points for a royal flush (when playing five points per hand)!

Spin Poker

Spin Poker was the first game to successfully blend the allure and visual attraction of slot games with the strategy offered in video poker.  The original Spin Poker is still exceptionally popular nearly ten years later.  It is a 9 line poker game with three hands of video poker in a 3 x 5 grid.  The first hand is dealt on the center pay line with two other decks above and below it.  Players hold cards in the center pay line and those are then duplicated above and below.  The “draw” occurs and the results are computed through the 9 pay lines.  An excellent game in nickels ($2.25/hand) through quarters ($11.25/hand).  It also is popular in a variety of high limit rooms.

100 Play Draw Poker

Hundred Play Poker is just one of the most fun poker variation anyone will ever play.  Watching the credits roll up and down, reminds you a little of a slot machine experience except that you can influence the jackpots.  Players love to watch the card hands fill in and the pay categories add up.  Operators should set this game up with the most popular game families as described above and consider the overall wager when setting pay tables, not the base denom.  After all, a penny Hundred Play player is actually a $5/hand player.  This is an excellent game for the general floor population as well as high limit.

50 Play Poker

The game allows you to play fifty hands at once with bets of up to five coins per hand. The first 5 cards are dealt face up. You choose which cards to hold, and those cards are automatically held in all fifty hands.  There is no fun quite like getting a starting hand with three-of-a-kind and watching the hands fill in and the full houses and quads rack up!  There is no change in player strategy and it is very popular in denominations from 1 cent ($2.50/hand), nickel ($12.50/hand), .10 cent ($25/hand) and up to quarter ($62.50/hand).  It is also an excellent high limit game, as well as for general floor placement.

Spin Poker Deluxe

Spin Poker Deluxe takes a great game and makes it even better. Spin Poker was the first “hybrid” poker-video slot game and has become one of the most successful video poker games of all time. Spin Poker Deluxe, expands the game to 20 lines, from the original’s 9, providing tons of action, improved hit frequency and hours of entertainment.  Popular in many denominations.

Five Play Multi-Strike Poker

Super Triple Play

Other Single-hand Games

There are other single hand games that are popular regionally or that have simply not been discovered due to not being made available to players.  Following are several games that are likely in your Game King boxes, but might not be enabled:

Super Double Double Bonus Poker

This game adds jacks, queens and kings as kickers.  Aces with a J, Q or K pays 1600credits, for example.  It is a great game if you like a variety of big jackpots with kickers and one of the few where you can get juicy jackpots even as a quarter player.  The extra jackpots are funded by removing a credit from the full house.  The game is quite volatile, has more quad categories than almost any other game and is really fun on multi-hand games.

Super Aces Bonus

Super Aces is a gem that has also grown in popularity over the past few years. This is especially true in multi-hand games where players like dumping full houses with aces and "going for it." Four aces pays 2,000 credits and no kicker is necessary. All quad 2s–4s pay 400. Eliminating the kicker bonuses and taking a coin off the full house payout is the giveback.

Super Double Bonus Poker

This schedule doesn't offer huge jackpots, but pays more on a new jackpot category-- four jacks, queens, or kings -- which pay 600 coins each. Four aces pays 800, 2s-4s pay 400, and 5s-10s pay 250. SDB also pays 400 coins on the often ignored straight flush.

Triple Bonus Poker Plus

Double Pay Poker

This is one of our favorite games with two pay tables; one for the deal and another for the draw.  Players wager an extra 5 coins per line and receive jackpots for dealt winners on the deal.  A pair of 6’s through 10’s pay 10 credits and a dealt full house pays 200.  After the three hands are dealt and the credits registered from them, the player holds cards in the bottom hand and completes the game as a traditional Triple or Five Play game.  A very volatile and fun game.
